The genus Ehretia comprises around 150 plant species, mostly found in tropical regions across North America, Africa, Australia, and Asia. These plants have been used in traditional medicines in China, India, and Japan for ages to treat various illnesses. Scientific studies have confirmed that crude extracts or specific components of Ehretia plants possess a range of beneficial properties, including anti-snake venom, antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, antibacterial, anti-arthritic, anti-tubercular, and anti-allergic. This text summarizes the secondary metabolites identified in several Ehretia species in the available literature up to February 2024. This chapter also highlights the biological activities and traditional medicinal uses of Ehretia plants.
