Japan will be the fifth country in the world to land on the moon. The spacecraft has got the name Moon Sniper. It will land on the moon on Friday. That is the plan. Surely, this lunar landing will open a new chapter in Japan’s space mission. With the help of America, Japan is advancing in the space race and defeating China.

Why is the name of the spacecraft ‘Moon Sniper’? The JAXA spacecraft will land within 100 metres of the lunar surface. The sniper will hit the target as accurately as a rifle bullet. That is what scientists hope. Japan’s SLIM (Japan Smart Lander for Investigating Moon) mission is nicknamed “Moon Sniper” because of its precise landing technology, which allows it to land within 100 meters of its target. The Moon Sniper was launched from the Tanagashima Space Center in southern Japan in September, 2023.

Japan wants to join hands with America in the space race. Japan also plans to send an astronaut to NASA’s Artemis program. However, Jaxa experienced many adversities and failures. Their Moon missions was also delayed three times. Finally, Japan’s vehicle has crossed to the moon loaded with their H-2A rocket which is made up of their own technolgy. This time, Japan is looking forward to make history by overcoming all obstacles.
